Heavy Weapons and Ammo Seized, Crash into Civilians

Security forces coordinated and secured 3 AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifles, a Sig Sahuer 9mm pistol, 2 bulletproof vests, 2 ammo magazines 22.3, 2 ballistic helmets, 2,000 22.3mm and 76.2mm rounds.

Police carried out a multi-unit operation this morning, chasing a suspect on the Salida a Celaya due in part to the detection from the video surveillance cameras of the C4 intelligence team.

The suspect was traveling in a red Ford pickup truck and then headed onto the José Manuel Zavala highway towards Querétaro. Police chased the suspect at high speed, at a time with many cars on the road.

During his escape, he crashed into another red vehicle. The other vehicle had four passengers, including one pregnant woman, in the Santas Marías community. When police cornered him and told him to halt, he continued to flee on foot. Police pursued him and he was located by a drone while jumping from roof to roof of the houses and later captured. Police inspected the vehicle and found the aforementioned weapons and ammunition. 

Upon inspecting the vehicle in which he was traveling, they found the weapons and cartridges. The detainee, named Manuel “N”, is originally from the state of Oaxaca. Upon reviewing their background, they found that he was a soldier in the state of Yucatan. He has been handed over to the Ministerio Público.

There has been no update on the condition of those who were involved in the crash.
