AMLO – “Murders Will Decrease in Six Months”
Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico, promised that in six months ‘we will improve the situation’ of violence in the country and thereby reduce homicides.
“We are going to solve the problem in spite of how deep the evil is,” he said during his morning press conference held in Veracruz.
He explained that three actions will achieve results during 2019:
1) “To serve young people” in education and work “so that crime does not feed on them”, that is, because young people will not seek to join criminal organizations, because the Federal Government will provide more opportunities.
2) The National Guard will supply 100,000 units for public safety.
3) This administration will not work with crime. The administration will work in a coordinated manner every day.
López Obrador also considers the full operation of all social programs within six months.
According to the Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System, the downward trend of intentional homicides since December 2018 was broken in March; 2,802 deaths increased to 2,836 in February.
