International Book Day

For International Book Day on April 23rd, organizations teamed up with the city government to “plant” 50 books in the Centro Histórico: novels, tales, plays, and other generes.
Paulina Cadena, the city Director of Culture and Traditions, invited citizens to read all year long, saying during the book planting, “reading is the key to imagination and freedom of thinking. I invite everybody to read and to travel to worlds that only books can take you to.”
Mayor Villarreal was invited to plant some books in the most unlikely of places. Surprised individuals found the books on benches, in flower pots, hanging from a lamp post or even in a tree.
