Hotel Matilda Donates 50,000 Pesos to the Red Cross
Due to the influx of tourists each year during the Easter holidays, each year, Hotel Matilda makes a substancial donation to the Cruz Roja who provides emergency services, free of charge to those in San Miguel. This year, Hotel Matilda donated 50,000 pesos during the Red Cross’s annual collection fundraising drive.
During the presentation of the check, the President of the Cruz Roja Delegación San Miguel de Allende, Leticia Fernandez de Noyola, said that the Red Cross has collected a total of 89,201 pesos to date in the piggybanks around town. She is optimistic that once the rest of the “botes” around town are collected and opened, the total raised will double. “We still have many “botes” to open. They can only be opened publicly in the presence of the Fundraising Coordinator, the Treasurer or the President. I believe that the amount raised will double.”
This year’s fundraising goal is 800,000 pesos. Fundraising Coordinator Teri Kavanagh was grateful for the generosity that Hotel Matilda shows annually and she invited more hotels, restaurants and businesses to “open their hearts and help us to have a well-funded Red Cross so that we can respond to every call for help.”
Here are the upcoming volunteer-run Red Cross events to help reach the fundraising goal:
