Democrats Abroad Mexico hold Annual General Meeting in San Miguel de Allende
Recently, Democrats Abroad Mexico held their Annual General Meeting here in San Miguel de Allende at the Hotel Posada La Aldea from March 30th to April 1st. The keynote speaker was Robert Reich, an author and professor from UC Berkeley, who has worked for four different presidents in Washington D.C. In his roughly one hour speech, he talked about the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, Attorney General William Barr’s summary of the report and other such recent developments.
Reich mentioned that no president had ever been both charged by the House of Representatives and convicted by the Senate of impeachment and removed from office and conceded that it would have been highly unlikely for a “smoking gun” to have been revealed. Instead, he engaged the audience regarding what the future of the Democratic Party would look like and gave members a strong call to action. In his address, he also spoke about American President Donald Trump. He emphasized the importance of the 2020 election and discussed with the audience the direction they believe the country is heading in. Also featured during the General Meeting was acclaimed journalist and political scientist, Genaro Lozano. Democrats Abroad in Mexico’s mission statement is, “to inform and encourage every American citizen in Mexico to register and vote in US elections and play a role in the political process back home in the United States.”
