Shoulder to shoulder, the people waited anxiously. The Jardín became more and more full, with increasingly less space by the minute.

As the bells tolled, the mayor appeared, chanting the annual words, leading into songs, fireworks and celebrations of independence.

Spinning fire displays lit the area in front of the Parroquia while drones flew overhead and live video streamed on the screen. It was a crowded and packed event.
