“Comandante Emilio” receives 60yrs in prison for kidnapping

“The Chilean” Raúl “N” aka “Comandante Emilio” who is wanted in Chile for various crimes, hid in the city of San Miguel de Allende under a false identity for years and continued his criminal career with multiple kidnappings.
On March 13th, 2017, “Comandante Emilio” kidnapped a Franco-American woman in San Miguel de Allende, held her captive for several days, demanding a large sum of money from her relatives in exchange of her release.
These facts were reported to the Public Ministry through a complaint, the case was turned over to the Specialized Unit in Combat of Kidnapping (UECS) of the Attorney General, who began to gather substantial evidence to clarify the crime, such as the tonnage of the calls, field research works, testimonies and expert evidence that could be analyzed and integrated into the research folder.
Following the investigations, at the end of May 2017, the kidnappers attempted to send a proof of life in an attempt to pressure the family to pay the ransom. However, “Comandate Emilio” was captured while supervising the delivery. This resulted in his arrest and the release of the victim.
The detainee, who at the time of his capture showed his false identity, turned out to be Raúl “N”, a former Chilean guerrilla who was wanted in Chile for the murder of a politician in the 90s; Interpol was searching for him in several countries.
The General Prosecutor’s Office’s Specialized UECS Agents took “Comandante Emilio” before a judge where he was charged with aggravated kidnapping, triggering criminal proceedings.
This afternoon, at the final hearing, the trial court ruled in favor and the judge issued a 60-year sentence for kidnapping and aggravated kidnapping and fined 321,000 pesos.
